Once you finish the studies of Degree in Building you will have access to an infinity of masters. However, these are the ones that have a direct relationship with the training that you have received during your passage through the Advanced Technical School for Building Engineering

Master in Science and Technology of Architectural Heritage

Building materials, modern and innovative current techniques, the scientific and computer aids developed over the last few years present a stimulating outlook of novelties and encourage the interest and transformation of the field of architectural heritage conservation. In addition, the ability to promote close relationships between different fields of knowledge such as Chemistry, Materials Science, Architecture, Restoration and Conservation, Archeology and Art History, make this Master Degree the opportunity to be linked, integrated and probably renewed in different knowledge.

The master is divided into two blocks:

  1. The contents in Sciences applied to the material part of the Architectural Heritage. The meaning and importance of a work of art do not reside in the matter that constitutes it but in the expressive content that it manages to communicate; In spite of it, the permanence in the time of an artistic work inevitably depends on the materials that compose it. The integral knowledge of these materials is essential, not only for the tasks of conservation and restoration, but also for a correct and deep understanding of the cultural asset.
  2. The studies and knowledge in Technologies of the conservation of materials and of architectural patrimonial structures. The current criteria in the field of the conservation of the Architectural Heritage require as a preliminary step to the execution of an intervention to have a comprehensive study. It is necessary to know how to choose the most appropriate methodologies in each case, in order to eliminate or slow down the causes and processes of deterioration; Hence the need to know the techniques of analysis of more advanced materials and the methodologies of application of the most suitable treatments for its conservation.

Master in Structures

This Master is oriented to a part of the technical-scientific knowledge within the scope of structural engineering, for its application in the civil works and building, in its aspects of:

  • Dynamic and seismic behavior,
  • Reliability, quality and structural damage,
  • Advanced techniques and models for metal and concrete structures.

Objective of the Master's and Competences

The subjects covered in this title receive scarce attention in the current degree titles, since they are advanced content. However, the interest of the proposed title is increasingly greater, given the increasing demand for structural quality in relation to vibrations, deformations, and seismic behavior, both in new building and in maintenance, repair, renovation and reconditioning of existing structures . Likewise, from a scientific point of view, this part of knowledge is in continuous development, because there are still serious gaps both in the theoretical foundations, but even more in the practical methodologies to be applied in some of the problems to which this title is oriented . The department as well as the professors outside the same that participate in the title develop an intense research activity, financed through public competitive bidding projects as well as through contracts with companies.

The graduates of this Master will have competences for their insertion in the general field of Structural Calculation, with advanced knowledge in design of structures, dynamics, vibrations and computational methods of calculation. The acquisition of these skills will facilitate their insertion in the labour market, in consulting companies, construction companies, in public administration, or as free professionals. The entrance profile to the Master is, with high priority, Civil, Industrial, Aeronautical and Architect Engineers, as well as other graduates with degrees in Civil Works and Building.

The study program offered in this Master is very attractive for the professionals mentioned above, as evidenced by the high demand in previous editions of the Master, as well as the current one, in which the number of enrollment applications doubles the offer.

Master in Acoustic Engineering

The Official Master in Acoustic Engineering is an official interuniversity master's degree between the Universities of Granada and Cadiz. In each university, the master is composed of three modules, the common module, a specialty module and the application module. In Granada is taught the specialty of Architectural Acoustics and in Cadiz the one of Acústica Ambiental. In the course 2014/2015 can be taken at the University of Granada the Architectural Acoustics specialty of the Interuniversity Master in Acoustic Engineering. The classes will be taught in the Advanced Technical School for Building Engineering.

Objectives of the Master and Competences

The objective of the Master is to train first level professionals in the field of acoustics, which enables them to develop their professional activity in tasks related to the development, application and research of acoustic technology. In such a way that they are able to face the development that in the last decades has had the acoustic science by its progressive linkage to the technological processes related to the progress of science and its application to the most varied and diverse facets of social and human development .With a professional orientation, it allows access to doctoral studies, through seminars that complement the training of students in the field of research.

The Specific Module of Environmental and Industrial Acoustics will train students to achieve technical training in noise and vibration. The student will be able to acquire the necessary knowledge to be able to immediately join the world of work with a deep knowledge of the different branches that integrate acoustics, develop his own business initiative in the sector, develop and manage acoustic projects, optimize the integration of criteria for evaluation and management of environmental and industrial noise in urban development projects and their action plans. Carry out the processes of management and evaluation of noise pollution.

The specific Architectural Acoustics Module will provide students with the necessary knowledge to develop and manage architectural acoustics projects in a complex and changing environment, to evaluate the acoustic viability of new business projects in the field of global enclosure design and quality indices in building and studies in rooms, taking into account technological, economic and administrative factors, to evaluate the values of soundproofing and comfort in the building.

At the end of the program, the student will have acquired the integration of knowledge from different disciplines: legal, technical, scientific and environmental and certain transversal learning abilities; Initiative, entrepreneurial spirit, decision making, leadership skills, leadership and teamwork to search and analyze information from different sources, conflict resolution.

Master in Occupational Risks Prevention

Occupational Risk Prevention is the sum of all actions and measures that aim to prevent, eliminate or, where appropriate, minimize the risks that are or may be present in the work activity.

This Master will equip the student with the necessary knowledge for the correct performance of the functions of Higher Level in Occupational Risks Prevention, in the Specialties of Safety in the Work, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics - Applied Psicosociology, regulated in Royal Decree 39 / 1997 by which the Regulation of Prevention Services is developed.

The studies that make up the Master's program consist of 90 ECTS credits, which are grouped in the three Specialties and structured in subjects with theoretical and practical contents, also including the performance of internship in companies or institutions, and the corresponding Master´s thesis.

The Master's curriculum contains a detailed and exhaustive list of each and every one of the requirements and requirements of Annex VI of RD 39/1997 of January 17, which approves the Regulation of Prevention Services. In addition, other aspects of interest related to environmental and quality management, the auditing system, etc., following the guidelines promoted by the Ministry of Employment of the Regional Government of Andalusia and the National Institute of Health and Safety at Work.

Therefore, this is the only way to obtain training and accreditation to professionally develop competencies legally attributed to advanced technicians of occupational risk prevention.

Master in Architectonic Rehabilitation

Urban growth greatly facilitated economic growth in the years leading up to the economic crisis. The collapse of the speculative bubble, coupled with the end of the real estate upside cycle, has left an over-sized, underused real estate property and, in many cases, a questionable urban quality.

The commitment to the rehabilitation and renovation of the existing city in front of the construction of a new city is a fundamental challenge of today's societies, whose challenge is the contribution to economic progress, not forgetting the requirements of sustainable urban development whose regulation makes it necessary to combine a whole series of different factors: the environment, quality of life, energy efficiency, the provision of services, social cohesion, etc.

The need to reinforce the knowledge of the current degrees in relation to built heritage and urban regeneration, justify to give shape and sense to this Master.

The studies that make up the Master's program will be taught in six modules structured in subjects with theoretical and practical contents, in addition, the possible realization of internship in companies or institutions, and a master's thesis grouped in alast practical module. The most appropriate techniques or teaching resources that are intended to be used in the teaching and learning process by the students are those that mix and compensate a directed instruction centered on the activity of the teacher, with a teaching based on the initiatives themselves of student.
